Rivington is a small village and civil parish in Chorley, Lancashire, England, sitting on the edge of the West Pennine Moors. The area is dominated by open moorland, the dramatic silhouette of Rivington Pike with its stone tower, and a chain of Victorian reservoirs - the Rivington Reservoirs - originally built to serve Liverpool. Those features combine to give excellent panoramic views and a distinctly rural, upland character close to larger towns.
Culturally and socially, Rivington is best known for Lever Park and the ornamental Rivington Terraced Gardens, created in the early 20th century and now enjoyed by walkers, families and volunteer conservation groups. The local economy still reflects agriculture and small businesses but leans heavily on outdoor recreation and tourism, with historic farmsteads and village buildings hinting at a long rural past.
