Coppull is a ward and village in the borough of Chorley, in Lancashire, lying on the edge of the West Lancashire plain between Chorley and Wigan. It combines rows of Victorian terraced streets with patches of green space and has straightforward road links that make commuting into Preston and Manchester feasible.
Historically the community was shaped by the coalmining and light industry of the Lancashire Coalfield, which left a strong industrial imprint in former pit sites and workers’ housing. Since the mid‑20th century it has moved towards a mix of residential areas, small‑scale industry and local services; a visible local pride, active community groups and modest heritage projects keep the village’s mining past alive while green spaces and sports clubs serve everyday social life.
