Forton is a small village in the borough of Wyre, Lancashire, England, situated beside the old A6 and close to junction 32 of the M6 between Garstang and Lancaster. It sits in gently rolling countryside with views towards the Forest of Bowland and proximity to the River Wyre, so it combines easy road links with a distinctly rural feel.
Traditionally an agricultural community, Forton now mixes farming with commuters working in nearby towns such as Lancaster and Preston, while village life focuses on the pub, village hall and local events. The surrounding network of lanes, canals and estuaries makes it popular for walkers and birdwatchers, and a number of older stone buildings hint at the village’s local history.
