Galgate is a village in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England, sitting just to the south‑east of Lancaster. It lies alongside the Lancaster Canal and the River Conder, with good road links on the A6 and easy access to the M6, and countryside such as the Forest of Bowland close by.
The settlement grew up in the 18th and 19th centuries around mills and the canal, and traces of that industrial past remain in converted mill buildings and a compact village centre. Today Galgate is a mix of commuters and local workers, with small industrial estates, village amenities and active community groups; the canal towpath and nearby farmland make it popular for walking and leisure while still being within easy reach of larger towns.
