Ellel is a civil parish in the City of Lancaster district of Lancashire, England, occupying largely rural land of farms, small villages and hamlets just south of the city with easy road access via the M6. The parish includes the village of Galgate and is valued for its pleasant lowland countryside and its position close to the fringes of the Forest of Bowland.
Traditionally agricultural with medieval roots, Ellel contains a number of historic buildings and active community hubs such as village halls and local clubs; one locally notable attraction is Ellel Grange, a Christian conference and retreat centre. Today the economy is a mix of farming, small enterprises and commuters to Lancaster and beyond, giving the area a quiet village character with opportunities for walks and rural recreation.
