Austhorpe is a small civil parish on the eastern fringe of Leeds, tucked between Cross Gates and Colton. The area still feels partly rural, with pockets of farmland and older farmsteads and a surviving historic house, Austhorpe Hall, giving a reminder of its agricultural origins while being close to commuter links such as Cross Gates station.
Locally the parish has a quietly residential, village atmosphere but benefits economically from proximity to East Leeds employment areas and business parks like Thorpe Park, so many residents commute into the city. Social life is modest and community-focused, with local churches and pubs and easy access to the wider amenities of Leeds when needed.
