Kippax is a sizeable village in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, about eight miles east of Leeds city centre. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it grew from an agricultural settlement and later felt the influence of nearby coalfields and light industry; today it largely functions as a commuter community with a compact centre of shops, pubs and small businesses.
The village has a strong community feel, with active sports clubs, a community centre, a primary school and local events that reflect its village roots. Its mix of older stone cottages and mid‑20th century housing sits close to open countryside and neighbouring towns such as Garforth, giving residents a balance of rural access and good links into the city.
