Harewood is a largely rural civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, lying roughly eight miles north‑east of the city centre. The parish is dominated by rolling estate land and small villages clustered around the road network, with agriculture and open countryside giving it a distinctly rural character despite its proximity to urban Leeds.
At its heart is the 18th‑century Harewood House, a Grade I listed country house set in Capability Brown landscapes and noted for interiors by Robert Adam; the estate, long associated with the Lascelles family, supports gardens, a bird garden and seasonal events, and is a magnet for tourists and film crews. The parish also has a small historic village core with the parish All Saints Church, and in recent years there has been public engagement with the estate’s fuller history, including the sources of family wealth, alongside ongoing cultural and agricultural activity.
