Hunslet & Riverside sits on the south bank of the River Aire immediately below Leeds city centre. The ward blends a strong industrial past - old mills, foundries, dockside warehouses and the tramways of the 19th and 20th centuries - with contemporary waterfront developments such as Leeds Dock, while the M621 and the Crown Point interchange form part of its southern edge.
Historically home to engineering works and brewing, including the site of the former Tetley brewery that now hosts The Tetley art space, the area has undergone steady regeneration as part of the South Bank programme.
