Micklefield is a village and civil parish on the eastern edge of the metropolitan district of Leeds in West Yorkshire, a few miles east of the city centre and close to Garforth and Sherburn in Elmet. It sits on the Leeds–Selby rail line with regular commuter services into Leeds and towards Selby, and has convenient road links that make it popular with people working in the city while retaining a semi‑rural feel.
Historically the village grew from farming and later from coal‑mining, so there’s a mix of agricultural and industrial heritage alongside newer housing. The name reflects Old English roots, essentially meaning a “large field”, and today Micklefield is a small, community‑minded place with a village hall, local pubs and clubs, balancing local events and village life with its commuter role.
