Rawdon is a village and civil parish in the metropolitan borough of Leeds, West Yorkshire, about seven miles north‑west of the city centre and tucked between Yeadon, Guiseley and Horsforth. It sits on rising ground dominated by the distinctive Rawdon Billing, a sandstone hill and popular local landmark with wide views across the Aire valley towards Leeds and the Pennines; the settlement has medieval roots and expanded through the 18th and 19th centuries with residential and light industrial development.
Today Rawdon feels like an affluent commuter village with good road links to Leeds and Bradford and is close to Leeds Bradford Airport. It retains a village high street, pubs, independent shops, schools and a conservation character of stone cottages and greenbelt countryside, with an active community life rather than heavy commercial activity.
