Swineshead is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Boston, Lincolnshire, England, set on the edge of the low-lying agricultural landscape of The Fens a few miles west of the market town of Boston. The area is characterised by flat, drained farmland and long vistas; the village itself retains a rural feel while providing basic amenities, a primary school, a couple of pubs and road links for commuters to nearby towns.
Its most notable historic feature is the remains of the Augustinian Swineshead Abbey, founded in the 12th century, which underlines the village’s medieval roots. Today the local economy is still largely agricultural, but community life - centred on village events, the church and local clubs - gives Swineshead a quiet, traditional character within easy reach of market and port facilities in Boston.
