Burnage

Burnage sits about four miles south of Manchester city centre and is a predominantly residential suburb with a mix of inter‑war semis, post‑war terraces and pockets of newer housing. Transport links are good for a suburb, with a local rail station and frequent buses into Manchester, and it neighbours areas such as Withington, Didsbury and the Parrs Wood corridor which hosts a large school and leisure complex.

Historically farmland until the early 20th century, Burnage grew as a commuter area and retains a local high street, community centres and traditional pubs; it has also seen waves of regeneration and a socially mixed population. Culturally it punches above its weight - famously associated with 1990s pop‑rock culture - and the neighbourhood combines suburban calm with easy access to the city’s jobs and amenities.
