Reddish is a suburb in the north of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, in Greater Manchester, lying roughly four miles north‑east of Manchester city centre. It straddles the valley of the River Tame and includes the green corridor of Reddish Vale Country Park, with reservoirs, woodland and notable brick railway viaducts that hint at its industrial past.
Historically a 19th‑century mill district, Reddish still shows that heritage in landmarks such as Houldsworth Mill and long runs of terraced housing; two small stations, Reddish North and Reddish South, link the area into the wider rail network. Today it’s a mixed, traditionally working‑class community with pockets of regeneration, independent shops, light industry and many commuters, offering a blend of local character and convenient access to the city.
