Cuxton is a small riverside village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Medway in England, sitting on the west bank of the River Medway between Rochester and Maidstone. It has its own station on the Medway Valley Line and lies beneath the chalk slopes of the North Downs, giving a mix of riverside meadows and wooded escarpments popular with walkers and cyclists.
Historically Cuxton has a long river-related and agricultural past and retains a compact village core with an old parish church and a few historic buildings; local industry such as brickmaking and quarrying influenced the area in the 19th and 20th centuries but today the settlement is largely residential with a strong community life centred on the village hall, pub and riverside paths rather than heavy tourism. Archaeology and the historic fabric of the village hint at its deep roots while easy rail links make it a quiet commuter spot for nearby towns.
