Cobham in the borough of Gravesham, Kent, is a small, attractive village tucked into the rolling countryside of north‑west Kent, not far from Gravesend and within commuting distance of London. It retains a distinctly rural feel, with farmland, parkland and lanes that hint at its location close to the chalk ridges of the North Downs and the estuary landscapes of the Thames basin.
The village is best known for Cobham Hall, a large historic country house set in extensive grounds (now home to a private school) that gives the area much of its architectural and cultural character; the local parish church and several estate monuments also reflect a long history of landed families and agriculture. Today Cobham combines that heritage with a commuter and small‑scale local economy, making it a quiet, picturesque spot often sought by people who want country living within easy reach of the capital. Not to be confused with the larger Cobham in Surrey, this is the Kentish Cobham with an emphatically rural, historic character.
