Halling is a village and civil parish in Medway, Kent, sitting on the west bank of the River Medway beneath the chalk escarpment of the North Downs. Its steep riverside cliffs and former chalk quarries give the area a distinctive look, and there are pleasant stretches of the Medway Valley Walk with a local stop on the Medway Valley Line.
Historically Halling was shaped by lime burning and riverside industry, with quarries and wharves feeding building projects in London, and remnants of that industrial past still mark the riverbank. Today it’s a mix of residential and light commercial activity with a village hall, pubs and community groups, and it benefits from easy access to nearby Rochester and Snodland for shopping and services.
