Marton East is a primarily residential ward on the outskirts of Marton within the borough of Middlesbrough in the North East. The area blends suburban housing with pockets of green space and small local shopping centres, sitting close to Stewart Park and the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, and benefits from regular bus links into the town centre and the wider Tees Valley.
Historically part of the old village of Marton and linked to the birthplace of Captain James Cook, the ward has a mix of long-standing communities and newer residents. Like much of Middlesbrough it has experienced post‑industrial change and pockets of deprivation, but local schools, community groups and council regeneration projects play an active role in supporting amenities and neighbourhood life.
