West Caister is a small, rural civil parish in the district of Great Yarmouth, in the county of Norfolk, England. It lies close to the Norfolk coast and the seaside settlement of Caister-on-Sea, with a landscape of arable fields, salt marsh and easy access to the Norfolk Broads, which makes it attractive to walkers and birdwatchers.
The area is essentially agricultural but benefits from the nearby visitor economy and holiday accommodation on the coast; locally notable is the 15th‑century Caister Castle, built by Sir John Fastolf, which lends a strong historical character and draws history enthusiasts, while village life remains quiet and community‑centred.
