Burnham Market is a large village and civil parish in the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk, England. Sitting a short drive from the north Norfolk coast and the Norfolk Coast AONB, it has a handsome Georgian village square and a mix of thatched cottages and period houses, giving it a genteel, almost boutique atmosphere often compared to the "Chelsea of Norfolk". The surrounding landscape is low-lying salt marsh and arable farmland, with coastal resorts such as Holkham and Brancaster close by and the historic hamlet of Burnham Thorpe, the birthplace of Admiral Horatio Nelson, nearby.
Historically a market town, its economy today leans heavily on tourism, independent shops, galleries, antiques and hospitality, alongside traditional rural trades. Socially it has a fairly affluent and seasonal population drawn by second homes and holiday lets, yet retains a lively community calendar and local services that reflect its role as a hub for surrounding villages and country pursuits such as riding and birdwatching.
