Hunstanton is a compact seaside town on the Wash in the borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk, Norfolk, England, known for its long sandy promenade, Victorian pier and the striking red-and-white banded cliffs that rise at the edge of the town. Unusually for the east coast, the bay faces west so you can watch the sun set over the sea; the town itself was developed as a planned Victorian resort by the Le Strange family and still features a Victorian lighthouse and period buildings along the seafront.
Tourism drives the local economy, with family holidays, caravan parks and day-trippers drawn to the beach, amusements and coastal walks; birdwatchers and nature lovers also use Hunstanton as a base to visit nearby reserves such as Snettisham and the wider Norfolk Coast AONB. Socially it has a relaxed, seasonal feel - lively in summer but quieter the rest of the year - and retains a mix of traditional seaside character and nature-focused amenities.
