Beeston Regis is a small village and civil parish on the North Norfolk coast, set just inland from the sea between Sheringham and West Runton. Its landscape is notable for Beeston Regis Heath, a surviving tract of lowland heath and scrub that is valued for its wildlife and walking routes, and for the evocative ruins of Beeston Regis Priory, which sit prominently on the heath and give the place a distinctly medieval air.
The community is largely residential with a rural, seaside character: agriculture, local services and tourism (holiday cottages and walkers using the nearby coast paths) all play a part in the local economy. Cultural life leans on the historic and natural setting, with birdwatching, coastal walks and occasional community events around the priory and heath, while the “Regis” suffix hints at the parish’s long connections with the wider history of Norfolk.
