Runton is a small coastal parish on the North Norfolk coast of Norfolk, England, made up chiefly of the neighbouring villages of East Runton and West Runton. Set between the larger seaside towns of Cromer and Sheringham, it fronts the North Sea and is prized for its beach, rock pools and cliff‑top walks that form part of the popular coastal routes through North Norfolk.
Despite its modest size the parish has an interesting heritage: West Runton is famed for the discovery of a nearly complete woolly mammoth skeleton, underlining the fossil-rich geology of the foreshore. Today the local economy leans on tourism and holiday accommodation alongside traditional small-scale agriculture and village services, giving a relaxed community feel with a steady seasonal influx of visitors.
