East Runton is a small coastal village on the north Norfolk shoreline in North Norfolk, Norfolk, England, sitting between West Runton and Cromer. It enjoys the classic North Norfolk mix of shingle and sandy beaches, dunes and coastal paths and lies within easy reach of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; walkers and birdwatchers are drawn to the stretch of coast and nearby reserves. The village is also close to the site where the West Runton mammoth remains were found, a notable local palaeontological discovery.
Historically a small fishing community, East Runton today has a mixed economy centred on tourism, holiday accommodation and local services, with a compact village feel and a handful of pubs and shops serving residents and visitors. The social life tends to revolve around community events, the seafront and outdoor pursuits, making it a relaxed base for exploring the wider North Norfolk coast.
