Wensum is a compact inner-city ward north of the city centre of Norwich in Norfolk, taking its name from the winding River Wensum that threads through it. The ward mixes riverside corridors and green paths with tight-knit Victorian terraces and pockets of post‑industrial land, so you get both pleasant riverside walks and a very urban, built-up feel within easy reach of the centre.
The area reflects Norwich’s broader history of milling and light industry along the river, with several old warehouses and riverside sites repurposed for offices, flats and creative uses; there has also been steady regeneration and local community activity. Economically it’s a mixed neighbourhood with local shops, small businesses and social housing alongside privately owned properties, and socially it tends to have a diverse population and active neighbourhood groups who organise events and take part in riverside conservation.
