Costessey is a large village and suburban parish in the district of South Norfolk, in the county of Norfolk, England, sitting just a few miles west of Norwich on the valley of the River Wensum. The settlement is often thought of in two parts - Old Costessey with its older lanes and village character, and New Costessey, a substantial 20th‑century residential expansion that now forms much of the built area.
The area has historic roots around the vanished country house of Costessey Hall and its estate, and the medieval parish church, St Edmund's parish church, still anchors the older village. Today Costessey functions largely as a commuter and family community for nearby Norwich, with local shops, schools, business parks and good access to countryside walks and cycle routes that make the mix of history and green space part of its appeal.
