Dishforth is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, set in gently rolling agricultural countryside just off the A1(M) and close to the market towns of Thirsk and Boroughbridge. Its position on good road links makes it both a quiet rural community and a convenient base for commuters travelling to larger centres, and the surrounding landscape is typical of the Vale of York fringe with a mix of farmland and hedgerow-lined lanes.
The village is perhaps best known for the nearby airfield, RAF Dishforth, which shaped much of its 20th-century identity as a wartime bomber station and later military site; the airfield remains a prominent local feature and influences the local economy and character. Otherwise Dishforth is a largely residential and agricultural community with the social life and services you would expect in a small North Yorkshire village, while nearby market towns provide broader shops, schools and cultural amenities.
