Northallerton is the county town of North Yorkshire in England, set where the gentle River Wiske winds through market streets. Sitting roughly midway between York and Teesside, it has a long history as a market and administrative centre, with a compact high street, historic churches and a lively weekly market tradition.
The town serves an agricultural hinterland and for many years hosted one of the region’s most important livestock markets, and is well connected by rail on the line between York and Darlington. It’s also a useful base for visits to the nearby Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, combining rural scenery with local shops, cafes and a quietly civic atmosphere.
