East Ayton is a small village and civil parish in the Scarborough district of North Yorkshire, England, lying a few miles inland from the coastal town of Scarborough. It sits by the wooded valley of the River Derwent on the fringe of the North York Moors National Park, which gives the area a mix of rolling farmland, riverside walks and easy access to coastal scenery.
The community has roots back to the medieval period and retains a compact village character of stone cottages, a parish church and local services; economically it combines traditional agriculture with commuting to nearby towns and a modest tourism sector linked to walking, nature and holiday accommodation. Together with neighbouring West Ayton it forms a pleasant rural hub with occasional village events and a strong local identity.
