Saxton is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, lying a few miles south‑east of Tadcaster and within easy reach of York and Leeds. Situated on gently rolling arable land of the Vale of York, it has traditionally been an agricultural community with many residents commuting to nearby towns for work.
The settlement has Anglo‑Saxon roots and the surrounding countryside is marked by medieval and later historic sites, most notably its proximity to the battlefield of Towton (1461) from the Wars of the Roses, which attracts local historians and walkers. Today Saxton retains a quiet, close‑knit social life centred on the village church, hall and occasional community events, offering a distinctly rural Yorkshire character.
