Bellingham is a rural ward centred on the small town of Bellingham in west Northumberland, set in the valley of the River North Tyne. It lies on the fringe of the uplands that lead into the Northumberland National Park and is within easy reach of Kielder Forest, so the area is noted for sweeping moorland and river scenery and plenty of walking, fly‑fishing and wildlife‑watching opportunities.
Historically a market and coaching settlement, the ward retains stone‑built streets and a strong agricultural character; the local economy mixes farming, small‑scale tourism and village services. Community life is lively for a rural area, with pubs, a community hall and regular local events (including an agricultural show) that underline a resilient, close‑knit social fabric.
