Ponteland is a small town in Northumberland, about ten miles north‑west of Newcastle upon Tyne and immediately adjacent to Newcastle Airport. Set against rolling Northumbrian countryside and close to the long-distance leisure routes that lead into Northumberland National Park, it includes the large, leafy suburb of Darras Hall and retains a semi-rural, village-like feel despite its proximity to the city.
The town is best known as an affluent commuter centre with good schools, a compact high street of shops and services, and a mix of older stone buildings and modern housing. Its local clubs, churches and community groups give it an active social life, while easy road and air links make it popular with professionals who work in Newcastle but want access to country lanes and the Northumberland coast at weekends.
