Ponteland is a small town in Northumberland, about ten miles north‑west of Newcastle upon Tyne and immediately adjacent to Newcastle Airport. Set against rolling Northumbrian countryside and close to the long-distance leisure routes that lead into Northumberland National Park, it includes the large, leafy suburb of Darras Hall and retains a semi-rural, village-like feel despite its proximity to the city.
The town is best known as an affluent commuter centre with good schools, a compact high street of shops and services, and a mix of older stone buildings and modern housing.
