Larwood is a compact, largely residential ward in the heart of Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, England, covering part of the built-up area of Kirkby-in-Ashfield. The ward takes its name from the county’s famous fast bowler Harold Larwood, and sits close enough to Nottingham and Mansfield to act as a commuter neighbourhood while still feeling rooted to local streets, parks and community facilities.
Historically the area shares the wider district’s coalfield and mining heritage, and that legacy shapes much of its built environment and community identity. Today the local economy is a mix of small shops, light industry and commuters, with ongoing regeneration and community projects aimed at improving housing, green spaces and leisure opportunities while celebrating the area’s sporting and industrial past.
