Tuxford is a small market town in the district of Bassetlaw, in Nottinghamshire in the East Midlands of England. It sits close to the A1, giving easy road links to Retford, Newark and Worksop, and lies amid rolling farmland on the edge of the historic Dukeries and Sherwood Forest country.
With medieval origins and a past as a market and coaching stop on the Great North Road, Tuxford today has a largely rural, service‑based economy - farming, small shops and commuters to larger towns. Local life is centred on parish facilities, a handful of traditional pubs and community events, and the town’s historic buildings and nearby countryside make it a pleasant base for walking and local heritage pursuits.
