Colston Bassett is a small rural village and civil parish in the borough of Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire, England, set amid the rolling farmland and hedgerows typical of the county and within easy reach of Nottingham. Its name recalls medieval landowners and the settlement retains a compact cluster of stone cottages and several listed buildings that give it a distinctly historic character.
The village is best known for its creamery, which produces a much admired Stilton cheese that draws national attention; beyond dairy and arable farming, many residents commute to nearby towns, and community life revolves around the church, village hall and occasional local events that keep a strong rural social fabric.
