St. Mary's is an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, within Greater Manchester, covering parts of the town-centre fringe and surrounding urban neighbourhoods to the north-east of Manchester. The area is predominantly built-up, with Victorian terraces and former mill sites giving way to pockets of newer housing and commercial premises, and it benefits from good regional links including Metrolink tram and regular bus services into the city region.
Like much of Oldham - historically part of Lancashire - the ward wears its cotton and textile heritage visibly, while today the local economy is a mix of retail, public-sector employment and small businesses alongside ongoing regeneration schemes. It has a diverse population and active community groups, with cultural and civic amenities nearby and local initiatives focused on housing, skills and social cohesion.
