Cropredy is a small village in the district of Cherwell, Oxfordshire, England, sitting beside the River Cherwell a few miles north of Banbury and within easy reach of Oxford. It retains a compact, historic core of stone and thatch, an old bridge across the river and a Norman parish church, and is notable as the site of the 1644 engagement known as the Battle of Cropredy Bridge from the English Civil War.
Today the village combines an agricultural hinterland with a commuter population and a lively local community; its economy and profile are markedly boosted each summer by Fairport’s Cropredy Convention, a long‑running music festival that brings thousands of visitors. The riverside setting, village pubs, hall and footpaths make it a popular spot for walkers and those interested in rural Oxfordshire history and events.
