Royal Leamington Spa is a Regency-era town on the banks of the River Leam, in the parish of Warwick, Warwickshire, England. It grew up in the 19th century around saline springs and the attractive Pump Rooms and gardens, which gave the town its spa identity and the “Royal” prefix; the high streets and crescents still show elegant Regency and Victorian architecture and pretty public spaces such as Jephson Gardens.
Today Royal Leamington Spa mixes a lively local culture – independent shops, galleries, festivals and the Royal Spa Centre – with a surprising modern economy: a notable cluster of digital and video‑game firms has earned it the nickname “Silicon Spa”. Good road and rail links also make it a popular commuter base for nearby centres such as Birmingham, Coventry and Stratford‑upon‑Avon, while riverside walks and parks keep it a pleasant place to live.
