Kenilworth is a small market town in the district of Warwick, in Warwickshire, England, set on low-lying ground where a number of small streams feed into the nearby River Avon. Its skyline is dominated by the dramatic ruins of Kenilworth Castle, a medieval fortress with famous Elizabethan connections - notably the lavish entertainments put on by Robert Dudley for Queen Elizabeth I - and the town has pleasant open spaces such as Abbey Fields close to the castle site.
Today Kenilworth combines a conserved historic centre and independent shops with a largely residential character: many people commute to Coventry, Warwick and Birmingham, while tourism linked to the castle and local festivals supports cafes, small businesses and a growing service sector. The town has good schools and active community groups, and its blend of heritage and commuter convenience makes it popular with families.
