West Hendred is a small, rural village in the civil parish of Hendred in the Vale of White Horse district of Oxfordshire, England. It sits on the northern slopes of the Berkshire Downs, close to the ancient Ridgeway and within easy reach of prehistoric features such as the Uffington White Horse and Wayland's Smithy; the area was historically part of Berkshire until the 1974 boundary changes.
The village retains a largely agricultural character with rolling chalk downland, traditional cottages and quiet lanes, while many residents commute to nearby market towns such as Wantage or the business and rail hub at Didcot. It is valued more for its peaceful community, access to country walks and riding on the downs, and proximity to notable historic landscapes than for any large commercial centre.
