Chastleton is a small, quiet rural parish in West Oxfordshire, on the western edge of the Cotswolds in Oxfordshire. The landscape is typical Cotswold country - rolling limestone pastures, narrow lanes and a scattering of honey‑coloured cottages and farmsteads - giving it a very unspoilt, agricultural character.
The parish is dominated by Chastleton House, an early 17th‑century Jacobean manor now looked after by the National Trust, whose unusually well‑preserved interiors, gardens and estate history attract visitors and shape local life. The local economy is still largely agricultural but benefits from heritage tourism, and the social scene centres on the village community and events connected with the house and surrounding countryside.
