Plympton Erle is a ward of Plymouth that takes in the old market town of Plympton on the eastern edge of the city. The area retains a distinct historic core with medieval and Tudor roots - it was once a parliamentary borough - giving a village-like high street, churches and a few older buildings amid largely Victorian and 20th-century housing.
Today the ward feels largely residential and community-minded, with local shops, schools and small businesses serving commuters into central Plymouth. It sits close to the main road links out of the city, has regular bus services and a number of green spaces and community groups, so it combines suburban convenience with a strong sense of local identity.
