Keppel is an inner‑urban ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, in South Yorkshire, lying close to the town centre and main transport links. It mixes Victorian terraces and post‑war housing with pockets of light industry and local retail, making it a practical residential area for commuters and local workers.
Like much of Rotherham, Keppel has roots in the coal, steel and engineering trades, and recent years have seen regeneration efforts, community projects and grassroots groups working on housing, youth services and public spaces. The ward retains a strong local identity and a largely working‑class, residential character despite economic change.
