Rawmarsh is a former mining and industrial village on the edge of Rotherham in South Yorkshire, England, lying in the Don Valley not far from the River Don. It grew rapidly during the 19th and early 20th centuries with collieries, brickworks and steel-related employment shaping its layout and housing, so the townscape still reflects that industrial heritage.
Today Rawmarsh is largely a residential community and commuter area for nearby Sheffield and Rotherham, with pockets of regeneration, local parks and community projects aiming to adapt former industrial sites. Socially it retains a strong working‑class identity and local culture, with clubs, churches and community centres playing a central role in village life.
