Netherton and Orrell sits within the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in Merseyside, just to the north of Liverpool. The area combines suburban streets with notable green spaces on its edges, including the linear Rimrose Valley and the remnant wetlands of Netherton Moss, giving a mix of everyday neighbourhoods and pockets of countryside close to the city.
Historically the area expanded through twentieth‑century housing development and still shows that working‑class, commuter character today, with local shops, community centres and some light industry nearby. There’s a strong local identity, active sports and voluntary groups, and the usual contrasts between well‑kept residential streets and places facing economic challenges, all framed by good public transport links into the wider Merseyside conurbation.
