Litherland is a suburban town in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, within Merseyside, England. It sits just north of Liverpool and between Bootle and Crosby, with easy access to the waterfront along the River Mersey and green spaces such as the Rimrose Valley Country Park, giving a mix of residential streets and pockets of open land.
Historically tied to the growth of nearby Liverpool and the docks, Litherland developed as a largely working‑class community with terraced housing and later post‑war estates; today it remains largely residential with light industry, local retail and commuting links into the city. The area has seen pockets of regeneration and retains a strong local community spirit, reflected in community groups, sports clubs and modest cultural amenities.
