Alveley is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, set in the scenic Severn Valley on the banks of the River Severn, a few miles south‑east of Bridgnorth. The setting is notable for rolling farmland, wooded slopes and river meadows, with the heritage Severn Valley Railway nearby and plenty of waymarked walks that attract visitors to the area.
Historically the village was linked to coal mining and the former colliery shaped the local economy and landscape; the reclaimed spoil tip is now Alveley Country Park, valued for wildlife and community recreation. Village life remains characterfully rural, centred on a parish church, village hall and school, with local events and outdoor activities reflecting a strong community spirit alongside the area’s industrial and natural heritage.
