Bracknell is the principal town of the borough of Bracknell Forest in Berkshire, sitting roughly 30 miles west of London and close to Reading. Originally a small market settlement, it was significantly expanded as a New Town after the Second World War, so the town blends older lanes and estates with post‑war and contemporary developments.
Today Bracknell combines a service‑and‑tech oriented economy with family amenities: The Lexicon shopping quarter and South Hill Park arts centre offer leisure and culture, while nearby green spaces such as Swinley Forest and California Country Park provide extensive outdoor recreation. The town has a commuterable feel but retains a strong local community and a mixed historic and modern character.
