Filton is an electoral ward in South Gloucestershire on the northern edge of Bristol, largely suburban in character and well served by road and rail - including Filton Abbey Wood station - giving regular connections into the city and beyond towards Cardiff via the A38 and the M4 corridor.
The ward is notable for its long aerospace heritage centred on Filton Airfield, where Concorde and other aircraft were developed, and for the presence of major employers such as Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Airbus; in recent years parts of the airfield have been redeveloped for housing and business space and the area benefits from close links with the nearby University of the West of England, giving a mix of industrial history and suburban community life.
