Kingswood is an electoral ward in the unitary authority of South Gloucestershire in England, sitting immediately to the east of Bristol. The ward contains the town centre with a blend of Victorian terraces, post‑war estates and more recent housing, and benefits from straightforward road and rail connections into Bristol, so it functions largely as part of the city’s outer suburban area.
Its name recalls the old royal hunting Kingswood Forest, and the area later developed around coal mining and light industry, leaving a distinct local identity and Methodist connections from the time of John Wesley’s preaching. Today the ward combines a busy local high street and community facilities with pockets of regeneration and a commuter population who work across the wider Bristol travel‑to‑work area.
